Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous Easter break – wasn't it wonderful to see the sun shining for a change!
We've hit the ground running this week, diving into our exciting new themes for the term. Our Robins are exploring the wonders of Africa, while the Kingfishers are journeying through time to learn about nursing history. Herons are staying closer to home with a geography theme centred on Petersfield, and Kestrels are travelling back to ancient China to discover the Shang Dynasty, along with some modern-day economics and trading. It's been brilliant to see all our pupils getting stuck into these fascinating topics!
Looking ahead, we've got a jam-packed term full of events to keep us all on our toes. There's the Cocking 3k run on 11th May (please sign up ASAP if you haven’t already), which I'm sure will bring out the competitive spirit in many of us. We've also got a junior French afternoon planned, VE day celebrations to mark 80 years, galas and sports days. There are leaving events and starting events planned for our year 6 and new year R and bump up days in July to help transition. It's going to be a whirlwind of activity and fun!
Also after school clubs start next week: there are currently spaces in all of them apart from Craft Zen Club so if you haven’t already take a look at the clubs list on the website and book them in!
Life at Sheet Primary has been a bit different without the lovely Mrs Child, but I'm thrilled to say that Miss Leney has settled in beautifully. It's like she's always been part of our school family!
Now, I have some wonderful news to share – Mrs Beenham is expecting a baby! She'll be with us until possibly mid September before heading off on maternity leave. We're all so excited for her and this new chapter in her life.
Speaking of changes, Miss Leney will be taking on the role of reception teacher. I'll confirm all other teacher placements as soon as the resignation date for teachers has passed on 31st May, so watch this space!
Just a quick reminder – there are loads of activities happening this term, so please do check your calendars against the school one. To make life a bit easier, I've popped some key dates at the bottom of the topic web pages, which you might find helpful.
Next week is looking like a quiet start to the term, giving us all a chance to settle back into the school routine. But don't worry, I'm sure the excitement will pick up soon enough!
Good luck to the junior children and staff who are off to see Peter Pan at the theatre tonight in preparation for their summer play ‘Peter Pan’, can’t wait to see what inspires them!
Have a fantastic weekend, everyone. Enjoy the sunshine if it decides to stick around!
Julie
